Francis M. du Mont papers, between 1940 and 1949?

This collection of the papers of Penn State University romance language professor Francis M. du Mont includes typescript translations and manuscripts of mysticism texts and French poetry, grammar, and pronunciation. Translation manuscripts include Father Ludovic's Science de la prière (1944) and H. Jaegen's Das mystiche Gnadenleben (1946). Du Mont's French language manuscripts are without title and undated, but probably written in the 1940s.

Dr. Francis M. du Mont was born in Baden, Switzerland. At the age of 10, he moved to Fribourg, located in the French-speaking part of Switzerland and graduated from Valentin College in France. He came to New York, where he taught French and Latin at the Robert Louis Stevenson School and served as head of the modern languages department at Barnard School for Boys.
